What I’m thinking about
Despite this rambunctious picture, I don’t believe Musk is the internet’s savior. If you’ve been around for a while you’ll recall T&C Chartcast, a well-produced podcast that pulled back the curtain on some of the shadiest shit Sir Mars-a-lot has done. Stuff that I’ve not seen reported in the mainstream media. Not pretty. That being said, I am still hopeful that Musk will put an end to the Twitter ban-hammer. Also, if he can take care of the bot problem that would be really fantastic.
On a personal note, the last two days is the sickest I’ve been in years. I filled my kettle with tap water to heat up for cleaning (I live in South East Asia, remember) then I forgot the tainted aqua was in there and drank it. Worst mistake of my life. 24 horrible hours in bed. Fever, sweating then freezing, aching everywhere and I couldn’t even leave my house to walk the dog. 2/10 stars, would not recommend that movie. Between the feverish delirium and the nonsensical bull-bear-bear-bull-bear-bull markets my brain is fried, so here is content produced by people who are still functional. Enjoy.

Another dispatch from Clownworld
Theme: Tim Price is the witty co-host of the State of the Markets podcast. I was excited to learn that he also writes a Substack. In this timely piece he argues that cutting out shitty information streams is absolutely necessary in our media heavy environment. In other words, listen to people who have some skin in the game.
Theme: A Tweet thread longer than some articles. Great explanation of just how much energy copper mining uses, and how bad mining is for the environment. Great thread to throw some shade on the EV utopia dream. The debate we should be having is about resource usage, where we will source commodities from, what the trade offs are, etc. Instead of saying EVs solve all.
How Elites Abandoned the Masses
Theme: Another excellent article from Erik. I really like the analogy of the fox vs. lion aristocrat. We’re in a weird time right now, where successful people do one thing but then turn around and tell everyone else they shouldn’t do the same thing. Elites pretending they’re not elite.
A Beginner’s Guide to Ethereum Censorship
Theme: This one is only for the crypto nerds. An excellent overview of all the ways that Ethereum can be censored. Glad to see this level of awareness from the community, and so many proposals to fix what needs fixen’.

The west’s dependency on Chinese metals
Theme: Best of the week award goes to Shrub for his thoughtful takes on what’s happening in China and how it will affect the west. More to point, how China’s entry into the global financial system has changed economies the world over. Outstanding.
QTR #294 - Our Bullshit Everything, September 2022 Edition
Theme: This one is a few weeks old but it’s still epic. Chris Irons is always funny but this time he really outdid himself. I was cracking up. Critical commentary on the Fed, the bottom in markets not being in, and OPEC going against the wishes of our dear leaders. Chris finds a way to make macro funny.
We’re Entering Worst Economic Time in World History; Fed Is Paving Path of Destruction
Theme: Hugh explaining his view on the current market, how wrong the Fed is, how inflation actually works. A legend.
Hugh Hendry - The Acid Capitalist Unfiltered
Theme: Really diving into Hugh’s world this week. In this episode Hugh explains exactly why he doesn’t think we have inflation right now, but rather “price elevation.” He also touches on the dollar and whether now is a good time to buy stocks. Great episode.
AirBnBust! How Desperate AirBnB Sellers Will Pull The Housing Market Down
Theme: Interesting information about how the Airbnb economy might be collapsing. Big implications for the housing market if all of these properties are put up for sale at the same time. I watched until the 45 minute mark, felt like I got the message by then.
Wicked Globalists Are Causing Starvation and Poverty Under the Guise of Environmentalism
Theme: Jordan Peterson dropping truth bombs. As JP points out, the problem with aggressively reducing fossil fuels as an energy source is that tens of millions of the world’s most impoverished will die. Hundreds of millions if you believe the more dire estimates. Remember how Europe bid up the price of LNG to astronomical levels? Who suffered because they couldn’t afford to outbid the Europeans for that energy? Food for thought.
It’s time to go off topic
I’m going to start including one off topic video every week. Something that has absolutely nothing to do with investing, finance or the bloody Eurodollar market. For this inaugural entry, a fascinating look into concert production. You won’t believe how much work goes into a tour!
Absolutely loving weekly recommendation series. Thanks
