Yes, absolutely. I'm reminded of the poker player Tom Dwan. A ridiculously talented individual, but he was lucky to start playing when he did, right at the cusp of online poker becoming popular. A time when there were lots of fish and he could easily build his bankroll. Tom would find it more difficult now, I believe.
Ty, it feels great to find the winning formula. Indeed, discipline is incredibly important. I often think about Jocko's famous quote, "Discipline equals freedom."
I always tell my kids to find what you love (and presumably are good at), work at it and success will follow. You don’t always hit it on the first try.
Indeed. It's important to realize that it might take you a while to find the right thing. Once you do find it though, that's when you persevere persevere persevere
Really insightful. I went through q similar experience. Originally, I wanted to be a lawyer (would not have fit me well), then I wanted to work in IT (didn't have the skills for it). The best thing I ever did was start my blog in college, now I'm working on growing q Substack, and I'm about to self-publish my first book.
Congrats on the book! Let me know how it goes. When I self-published my first (and only) book, the best praise I received was "that was better than I was expecting!"
I'm glad you were able to realize that those other career paths weren't right for you, and you found something better. Too many people stick with something because they feel like "they should" or "it's the right thing to do." Typically those people don't end up very happy.
Well, I have a strategy for promoting my book since I went through an online course for how to do it. It just needs to be good enough for people to buy. It will become a series. The website topics have matured over time.
I'm debunking the soulmate myth, break down rising single demographics, then provide self-development solutions in the last third of the book. The next books will all be self-development. This is the Substack for my site:
you left out one thing luck sometimes that is what makes the difference ,right time right place

What you gained through all those endeavors was discipline and discipline is the forward thrust to achieve your goals. Congratulations!

Loved reading your personal story and how you got here. So many great lessons that we can all benefit them. Thank you!
Muchas Gracias Jason, I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I had fun writing it.

What's the book going to be about?
